A YEAR
AT THE
Our most recent experience at the Fairmont in April (2019) was woth our family hosting a birthday for our oldest daughter (now ten) in our hometown of Victoria BC. We wanted to Feature the Fairmont Empress and the Empress Tea Room specifically as an option for celebrating a small sophisticated day time soiree.
Having checked out the Q at the Empress earlier in the month for ice cream the princesses agreed this hotel was perfect for a sophisticated little party with family and friends.
The dining options at this amazing hotel currently ongoing renovations are superior as was the amazing reception that first greets you into the stunning foyer , with a further paw shake for pet lovers, with Winston the very charming canine ambassador of the Empress - see more on this amazing animal program later) and have you follow the grand stairway through the posh and unique hallway, through The Q and into the Tea Party. (A stay later in our Summer Edition 2019 will be forthcoming and a full review of the accommodations is eminent)
The service was amazing and the treats and little cucumber sandwiches a delight. The variety of teas offered and the care and attention to detail were a thrill for all of the party and SLM Magazine recommends a visit on your next trip for sure.
Served daily since its opening in 1908, world famous Tea at the Empress is served in the impressive Lobby Lounge. Located on Vancouver Island, ‘’Canada’s Castle on the Coast’’ is an amazing starting point to exploring this amazing provinces capital city and British Columbia’s striking west coast beauty.
Fairmont Empress Hotel reigns at Victoria’s Inner Harbour and city centre of arts, entertainment and cultural attractions. This Vancouver Island resort is located in British Columbia's capital city and features turn of the century architecture, classic elegance and the waterfront local that is its feature appeal.

SLM Magazine was proud to promote and review BLUESFEST 2018 last summer and were thrilled to have Ottawa's, Fairmont Chateau Laurier as our stunning French style château, in the heart of downtown Ottawa, which makes for the ideal stay when visiting our nations capital to rock out with the likes of Foo Fighters and The Dave Matthews Band !
We were lucky to have this spectacular resort as our first Hotel review and the Fairmont Château Laurier did not disappoint. This was our first time visiting the GOLD Floor and oh what an experience, we booked GOLD for all of our stays in all of our future travels after this amazing concierge program welcomed us in !
Reflecting the assurance, poise and panache of Ottawa, Fairmont Chateau Laurier stands as a testament to this dynamic, flourishing city. Located in the heart of Canada's capital next door to the Parliament Buildings, the landmark Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa is a magnificent limestone edifice with turrets and masonry reminiscent of a French chateau.
Located in the center of Downtown Ottawa, Fairmont Château Laurier is minutes away from its biggest attractions including: The Parliament Buildings, Rideau Canal, Byward Market (SLM Magazines favorite burrow) , National Gallery of Canada, Shaw Center, and the National Arts Centre.
Having recently completed a multi-million dollar guestroom revitalization. These newly re-designed rooms are a fresh, modern addition to the regal elegance that is synonymous with the hotel, including upgraded HDTV’s and WIFI. Our updates include the newly updated Fairmont Gold, which further solidifies Fairmont Château Laurier as Ottawa’s best luxury hotel. Fairmont Gold has been completely re-imagined and renewed. We have expanded to 69 rooms and suites, all of which are newly renovated, complete with modern details. The luxurious Fairmont Gold Lounge has been revived to provide our guests with a level of service that will help you make the most of every moment, ensuring a stay that is nothing short of unforgettable.
Treat yourself to a visit to Wilfrid’s Restaurant or the recently renovated Zoe’s.
We will definately be returning to this hotel in the future and that iconic pool at the spa !

SLM Magazine traveled to Vancouver to review and interview Mansionair for the Spring 2019 issue and had the pleasure of being hosted in a GOLD Room suite at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Known as the 'Castle in the City’ , there is an opulence, sophistication and royal old world charm to this unique hotel. Hotel Vancouver first opened its doors in 1939, on the eve of the Royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. From the outside one would imagine it a fortress, in its architecture and the visuals, with gargoyles that guard the envelope of this Vancouver urban icon.
Inside the hotel is some of the most luxury shopping in Vancouver (Louis Vuitton, St John Boutique, Gucci and Dior to name a few, ( SHOP here ) and its prime downtown location, with easy access to many of Vancouver's most special spots including Granville Island, Robson Street shopping, Stanley Park Seawall, Vancouver Aquarium, Gastown, Canada Place and Science World make it an excellent option for a shorter or long term stay.
The history of this beautiful hotel and the infamous 'apparition' said to reside in the hotel “The Lady in Red” is one of Vancouver’s most famous ghosts. According to legend, she haunts the historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver at 900 West Georgia St., built in 1939, walking the top floors in her elegant red gown, occasionally stopping at the window to stare dolefully out at Vancouver.
Highlights from this trip also included a trip to Absolute spa and dining at Notch8 Restaurant & Bar at Hotel Vancouver, both phenomenal experiences within the hotel.
We spent the early evening hours relaxing in the GOLD room which opened to the Lieutenant Governor's Suite, featured in the 50 SHADES OF GREY movie.
In spring 2019, the hotel will celebrate its 80th anniversary with the unveiling of a new luxurious Fairmont Gold product, and we are thrilled to give a future review of this upon completion.

Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui
SUMMER 2018

Ottawa's iconic Fairmont Château Laurier hotel

This winter we travelled back to Maui for another amazing family holiday while wrapping up the SLM Winter 2018 Edition and prepare for the New Year (2019). After staying at Ottawa's iconic Fairmont Château Laurier hotel just a few months earlier, we knew that the Maui's Fairmont Kea Lani, in Wailea would be the perfect sunset to our trip to Hawaii this year, and it was !
Fairmont Kea Lani is Hawaii's only all-suite and villa luxury oceanfront resort, situated on 22 acres of tropical landscape in sunny Wailea, Maui.
Cradled on the golden sands of Wailea's Polo Beach, this award-winning oceanfront paradise redefines luxury with the state-of-the-art Willow Stream Spa, island inspired cuisine and authentic cultural experiences. Fairmont Kea Lani is the ideal island getaway with four unique restaurants, three swimming pools including an adult-only pool, a comprehensive fitness and wellness program and unrivaled access to the best adventures across the island.
In Hawaiian, Kea Lani means 'heavenly white' and this unique resort encompasses this with a sea of white architecture and white plumeria, a striking tropical flower commonly found along the island's shoreline and one of the resort's inspirations.
Architecturally pleasing to the eye, Fairmont Kea Lani’s boasts beautiful Hawaiian architectural influences originally established by. Jose Luis Ezquerra in the 80’s, an specialist unrivalled in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean art, architecture and archeology. He helped develop the Mexican 'lejanista' style. There is a taste of Tahiti and that of the Marquesa Islands in Polynesia in the artwork and special touches around the resort. Decades later interior designer Roger Gagon brushed a touch of modern day inspiration reinvigorating the beauty of this resort, starting with the magnificent open-air lobby, with modest brushes of color and shades of deep plum, gold and pink that.
In keeping with the history of the hotel though are installed primal patterns found in Polynesian tattoo art. Elsewhere on the property, Gagon depicted rich seaside colors to reflect the coastline of Hawaii with blue-green tide pools, seaweed and the islands’ flora and fauna. Palm-shaped loungers embrace the poolside, the villas portray the large ferns found across the island in all 37 villas around the property. His signature can truly be felt at Kō, with its intense island imagery.
We had a beautiful Garden View King Suite which have private lanai's and the space was perfect for a family of 4. There was not a GOLD lounge experience however the phenomenal breakfast buffet was plenty for 2 adults and kids a ala carte, and plenty of dining in and out options, make reservations if you need to in advance or check out any specials the hotel offers when booking for the buffet, at Kea Lani Restaurant .
Dining options are a plenty on the grounds, Kō (award winning signature restaurant, offers plantation-inspired cuisine featuring Hawaiian, Chinese, Filipino, Portuguese, Korean, and Japanese menu items. Kō is open for lunch and dinner.) / Nick's Fishmarket (One of Maui's premier seafood restaurants) / LUANA (offers a taste of Hawaii's modern culture through cocktails and music ) Ama Bar & Grill (Casual poolside bar and grill) Kea Lani Restaurant (An open-air restaurant open daily for breakfast service featuring an extensive hot and cold breakfast buffet and exceptional a la carte service.) Makana Market Cafe (Offering freshly made Maui and Hawai‘i Island grown and roasted coffees, house-crafted pastries, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, smoothies, acai bowls, as well as a poke bar along with wide variety of makana to purchase for family and friends! (DINE)

Featured in National Geographic’s book The 10 Best of Everything, Blue Hawaiian Helicopter TOURS give you a bird’s-eye view of paradise, with narration by pilots who double as certified tour guides. Gaze at sea cliffs, waterfalls on Molokai or the Haleakala crater, all at dizzyingly close perspectives. bluehawaiian.com

Fairmont Waterfront , was an absolute treasure that SLM Magazine booked a night at (April 2019)This modern and trendy eco friendly home away from home. SLM Magazine had the privelge of staying at heart of upscale Coal Harbour, travelling between Victoria and Vancouver for a little get away from home via V2V Vacations and Harbour Air on return.
We were blown away by this hotels GOLD lounge experience, that offers relaxed West Coast luxury, with an omage to "Moss" from Stanley Park almost an ART installation amonst the complimentary treats.
of nature conveniently connected to the cruise ship terminal and convention center, Fairmont Waterfront has a stunning harbor views and a roof top garden and pool which even in March of this year felt like summer in Soho !
Away from the urban chic and the amazing aforementioned roof top beauty is an amazing HoneyBee sustainable inforgraphic, Fairmont is committed to doing its part to support BEE health globally. FAIRMONT THE QUEEN ELIZABETH
This summer we travelled to the amazing Montreal, Quebec to review the Osheaga Festival and continue our ongoing feature of the amazing Accor Hotel Chain with "AYearAtTheFairmont.
Our stay at the beautiful downtown Montreal, Fairmont,The Queen Elizabeth was so wonderful. We could not wait to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of John Lennon & Yoko Ono's Bed-in for Peace as well. Check out the series of photos of this historical moment as we tour the private suite.
As usual, the Fairmont Gold was the ultimate in luxury, the embodiment of personalized service, the staff were lovely (Bruno makes the best hot chocolate!) and the breathtaking views of the city were fabulous.
Old Montreal has so many amazing eateries but the hotel had some of the best.
Rosélys, where one can admire the gastronomical prowess of Chef Maxime Delmont and his brigade.
Marché Artisans, an urban market concept, with a gourmet world of delights from here and abroad. Clients can sit down for a snack and a glass of wine, the pizza was amazing!
Nacarat, an amazing variety of cocktails aplenty with some amazing mixologists.
Thanks to the underground city that swarms under our feet, it was a reasonably quick ride to Osheage !privileged access to the heart of Montreal. From the foot of the mountain to the doors of the Old Port, choosing Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth is choosing luxury travel made easy!
